We cannot tell you exactly what your vasectomy will cost unless you do not have insurance coverage, in which case your cost will be our non-discounted charges. The dollar amount that you will pay is, for the most part, determined by the health insurance plan that you purchased or received from your employer. We can tell you the exact amount that we charge for our services and how our charges will be handled by your insurance carrier.
We charge $1,250.00 for performing your vasectomy. In addition to our professional service charge, we will charge you a surgical tray fee of $150.00 for the supplies used in performing your vasectomy and a pathology fee of approximately $150.00 for processing the removed vas segments. We do not charge an anesthesia fee if your vasectomy is performed under local anesthesia or local anesthesia plus the use of Valium. If you chose to have your vasectomy performed under IV sedation, the anesthesiologist will charge you a separate fee for the services provided to you. If you have insurance but your insurance carrier is not contracted with us and/or the anesthesiologists, we will bill your insurance carrier as being out-of-network.
Once service is provided and charges tabulated, we will bill your insurance carrier. When your insurance carrier receives our bill, it will typically apply a provider discount which is determined solely at its discretion. Your insurance carrier will then pay us based upon the discounted charges and the specifics of your health plan. The amount that you are required to pay directly to us is also determined by the specifics of your plan (deductible level and co-payment). We hold you responsible to pay the amount that your insurance carrier has determined that you must pay. We will not balance bill you for any amount above the discounted charges that your insurance plan has determined.
